A multi-stakeholder group of partners coordinated by the UN Millennium Campaign and Corporativa de Fundaciones conducted a targeted MY World Campaign in Jalisco, Mexico. Consisting of UN, civil society, local government, private sector, media, youth organizations, and over 400 youth volunteers, the group collected almost 400,000 votes, mostly through offline volunteer canvassing over six months. The results of the survey did not only contribute to the new sustainable development agenda at the UN, but the Jalisco Undersecretary of Planning has already committed to incorporating these results into the State Development Plan in 2015, and to participating in other UN citizen engagement exercises to monitor the new Global Goals. This initiative has also inspired other localized initiatives across Mexico.
