GLOBAL YOUTH EMPOWERMENT FUND

JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL (JCI)

The Global Youth Empowerment Fund is a new initiative to empower young people, ages 18 to 40, around the globe to impact their communities by investing in grassroots community projects. A partnership of JCI and the UN Millennium Campaign, starting from 2016 the Fund will offer grants and training to youth-led grassroots projects that advance global development goals in local communities around the world using the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals with a major focus on strengthening the mechanisms for youth’s civic engagement in decision and policymaking, implementation and monitoring accountability in the post-2015 development agenda.in South Africa.

THE GOALS OF THE FUND ARE:

  1. To mobilize young people to advance the post-2015 development agenda through targeted community projects, which create awareness and ownership of the agenda amongst all citizens.
  2. To engage all sectors of society in the sustainable development agenda through support of youth-led, community-based development.
  3. To demonstrate - through the partnership between JCI and UNMC - the power of young people to create sustainable change on a global scale through storytelling and project sharing.
