GLOBAL YOUTH EMPOWERMENT FUND
JUNIOR CHAMBER INTERNATIONAL (JCI)
The Global Youth Empowerment Fund is a new initiative to empower young people, ages 18 to 40, around the globe to impact their communities by investing in grassroots community projects. A partnership of JCI and the UN Millennium Campaign, starting from 2016 the Fund will offer grants and training to youth-led grassroots projects that advance global development goals in local communities around the world using the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals with a major focus on strengthening the mechanisms for youth’s civic engagement in decision and policymaking, implementation and monitoring accountability in the post-2015 development agenda.in South Africa.
THE GOALS OF THE FUND ARE:
- To mobilize young people to advance the post-2015 development agenda through targeted community projects, which create awareness and ownership of the agenda amongst all citizens.
- To engage all sectors of society in the sustainable development agenda through support of youth-led, community-based development.
- To demonstrate - through the partnership between JCI and UNMC - the power of young people to create sustainable change on a global scale through storytelling and project sharing.
